‘MART’ provides transportation broker services for the Department of Developmental Services (DDS) in the North and South Central Regions, the Pioneer Valley Region, as well as the entire Metro Boston region including the North and South Shore areas.

Transportation is available to Medicaid recipients deemed eligible by MassHealth. Once deemed eligible, a recipient contacts ‘MART’ to schedule their transportation. This transportation assists recipients by getting them to/from medical appointments.

‘MART’ provides brokerage services for the greater Metro Boston area, Pioneer Valley Area, North Central Area, Lowell and the South Central Area. ‘MART’ has contracts with 153 vendors to provide transportation via a low cost bid system.

‘MART’ currently services the transportation needs of MassHealth consumers in 223 cities and towns, with an approximate annual budget of $18 million. Transportation averages approximately 5300 one-way trips per day with the highest volume in the Metro Boston area.

‘MART’ manages transportation services for the Department of Public Health (DPH) Early Intervention Program (EIP) for approximately $1.8 million for the transportation in the Pioneer Valley (H03), North (H04) and South (H05) Central, and the Greater Boston (H09) areas. We accomplish this through a quoting process and broker services with 15 private transportation companies which provide services for approximately 1100 children to 83 Early Intervention Programs.

‘MART’ is on a State list that allows the School District’s to deal directly with ‘MART’ to provide Management and Brokerage Service for Special Education (SPED) Students ages 3 to 22. We accomplish this through a quoting process and brokerage with private transportation operators to provide transportation via a low cost bid system. SPED transportation arrangements can only be made by the Special Education Department responsible for the student’s transportation services. Service can be used for any type of transportation that falls within the student’s Individual Education Plan (IEP). It is generally used to transport students to and from school, work programs, tutoring or therapy sessions, and field trips.

Trips can be combined with SPED students from cities and town that fall within ‘MART’s transportation service area, in order to cost share routes.

Trips can be combined with SPED students from other cities and towns outside of ‘MART’s transportation service area only with special authorization from the ‘MART’ Administrator or his/her designee.
